Who will skate faster on the 1.500 Meter for women? Leenstra or Schussler? This is a clear one. Leenstra is competing at the top of the rankings, schussler has another disappointing tournament in which she doesn't show her allround potential. Shes lacking topspeed and also endurance on the 500m and 3.000 m from yesterday. Leenstra for me 8/10 stakes.

10000 Meter again.,during the Speedspkating World championships allround in Calgary (Canada) See results here: http://live.isuresults.eu/2010-2011/Calgary/
Kuck or Contin! Who will skate a faster time on 10K?
Yesterday Contin was just slightly faster on the 5.000 M. Their 10K personal racords are comparable too. But lets see, where did they skate the PR-s? Kuck skated it last year at the WCH in Heerenveen. Contin skated it dec.2010 in Vancouver - which is 'slower' ice than the ice in Heerenveen. Also Contin is the stayer type, whereas Kuck has more sprinting speed in his legs. Kucks pr is 1 year ago whereas contin improved just 1,5 month ago, so he looks more dedicated to the 10K than Kuck. For these reaons 2.30 is great value. Lets take 7 /10 stakes.

Speed skating World Championship Allround distance: 10.000 M Who will be faster, Bokko or Olde Heuvel? Looking to yesterday's 5.000 m Its gotta be bokko, who also will have a shot to win the title, where as Olde Heuvel probably wont even reach the podium. So more at stake for Bokko, who under normal circumstances also has more 10k potential. Full stakes

Pick: KH Lee Result: lee Stake: 7/10 Odds: 1.40

1.000 m men..Who will be faster, current Sprint world champion KH Lee or German Schwarz? Well, normally this would be a no brainer cuz KH Lee will be faster than the German 9 out of 10 times..The nagging thing is that Schwarz was the fastest of them all during the last world cup 1.000 m...But lets treat that as a statistical anomality, during a moment that didn't really matter. The WC Sprint matters, KH Lee is 3 times champion and also beat Schwartz this seasons during another worldcup with a margin bigger than 1.5 sec..Thats huge on this distanc. 7/10 stakes for LEE. Pick: DAVIS Result: groothuis Stake: 8/10 Odds: 1.50

Hello! Speedskating season is halfway. This weekend, the World Championships Sprint will take plac. In Heerenveen, Netherlands. This pick is about the 1.000 meter race. Who will be faster: S Davis from USA or local heroe S. Groothuis? Davis has won lots and lots of 1.000 meters and he possesses the world record. He's current olympic champion too. Groothuis is a dangeour opponent and he can open faster and skate a faster first lap..But can he finish with a faster last lap? 9 out of 10 times Davis gains enough time in the last lape to clock the fastes time. That's why this odd of 1.50 is way too high. 8/10 stakes

Sablkova will win. It's as simple as that!
Only dangerous competitor is Beckert from Germany.
Sablikova won the 3 km fairly easy, and the 5km is her real speciality.
During the last european championship allround, Sablikova beat Beckert on the 5km with more than 5 seconds. 10 / 10 stakes

Sablikova won with 0.45 second margin! Profited from starting last.

Pick: S Kramer Result: Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.17

Men 10.000 meter . Sven Kramer from Netherlands has won this distance, since the previous wintergames. He starts in the last pair. This is his favourite distance and it favours his style of skating and his lack of pure speed. Just skate 25 laps with laptimes of around 30.0 and gold is in sight. Yes 1.17 odd means there's not a lot to win . So lets take 10/10 stakes.
Result >>
Oh no!! Kramer skated the winning time BUT was disqualified.
His coach Kemkers let him change lanes incorrectly.
10 stakes lost becuz of amateur error.
Kramer still worlds best 10km stayer though!

Pick: Angermuller Result: Stake: 8/10 Odds: 1.60

1.000 meter for WOMEN. Head to head, who will be faster, Angermuller from Germany or S W Lee from S Korea! On first glance, Lee seems to be favorite. The girl just won gold on the 500 meter, 2 days ago. But...the 1.000 m is just a little too long for her. During the world cup 1.000 m on 12 december, Angermuller was nr 3 and Lee was nr 13, with 1.3 seconds between them! A lot on this distance.
During w. ch Sprint in january, Angermuller was nr 2 on the 1st 1.000 m. Lee won the total tournament, but was nr 4 on the 1st 100.m , difference with Angermuller 0.19 sec. Angermullers 500 m during this wintergames, showed that her top speed is ok (lap time 28.1). She can maintain that speed better than Lee can.

Tight one!
Angermuller 1.18.17
Lee 1.18.24

Pick: Hedrick Result: Stake: 6/10 Odds: 1.68
Bookmaker: BWIN vCash: No

Again a bet about 1.000 m for MEN. Last year, Trevor Marsicano (USA) won gold on this distance during the world championships per distance. This season however, he has never reached the podium on any distance. On the olympic 5.000 meter, he did not make it to the top 10 (while he won bronze last year at the w.ch. per distance). Hedrick on the other hand, finally won a world cup again this season, after 3 seasons of mediocrity. Yes, that victory was on the 1.500 meter, and not on the 1.000 meter. The most recent world cup 1.000 meter (11 dec. 2009) resulted in a 5th place. Marsicano was nr. 13. It's telling that Hedrick had a better opening, better 1st lap and also better 2nd lap then Marsicano. So: both his top speed, and endurance are better than Marsicano's. The 5.000 didn't convince me that Marsicano is making the same drastic improvements he made in februari of 2009. Medium stakes though, since 1.000 is not a speciality of Hedrick and he's also (probably bevause of his age) not reliable.
RESULT
Hedrick nr 3!
Marsicano nr 10
